Soft wash means three things: low pressure (under 60 psi at the panel), a soft horsehair or microfiber brush, and a pure deionized water rinse with zero detergent. It's the only cleaning method that doesn't risk voiding your panel warranty — and it works.

How is soft wash different from regular pressure washing?
Pressure washing is 1,500 to 4,000 psi water blast. Soft wash is under 60 psi with a brush doing most of the work. Pressure washing can crack the anti-reflective coating, force water past the panel seal into the junction box, and void warranties. Soft wash is the only method most manufacturers explicitly permit.
Why deionized water?
DI water has zero dissolved solids. As it dries on the glass it leaves no mineral spots. Tap water in San Diego is hard — it dries to a calcium film that bonds to glass and reduces transmission permanently. We carry a truck-mounted DI tank and check ppm before every job.
Do you use any chemicals?
Almost never. Plain deionized water and a soft brush handles 95 percent of soiling. For hard water etching or bonded bird waste, we use a panel-safe gentle cleaner approved by the major manufacturers, then rinse with DI.
