Is it really a stain or just dirt?
Hard water etching is calcium and magnesium chemically bonded to the glass. Regular cleaning makes it cleaner but the etching remains. The test: clean the panel with DI water and look at it backlit. If there's still a haze or rainbow shimmer, that's etching.
Won't acid damage my panels?
Concentrated acid would. We use a dilute, panel-safe formulation that works in the 2-5 minute contact range, then a full DI rinse to neutralize. Manufacturers test panels against this method during certification.
How do I prevent it from happening again?
Adjust your sprinklers so they don't hit the panels. We map every overspray during the visit and email the diagram to you. If irrigation can't be adjusted, we'll recommend the cleaning frequency that keeps you ahead of new etching.
